McPay? McDonald’s to launch an Order Ahead application
Fast food may soon be getting faster.
McDonald’s will soon be launching a mobile application that will allow customers to place orders and pay ahead of getting to the restaurant. According to The Next Web, the application will be launched some time next year in a small number of international markets, including Australia, Canada, France and the U.K.
Mobile applications have tremendous value for businesses like McDonald’s who are always looking to streamline operations and avoid long customer queues. In recent years, some locations have gone as far as adding a second drive-thru lane to capture more orders and create perceived convenience for customers. But order ahead may change the playing field entirely.
McDonald’s will soon be joining a number of other quick service restaurants, coffee shops and fast food chains that employ order ahead capabilities within their mobile applications. Companies like Starbucks, Domino’s and Panera have their mobile strategy and order ahead capabilities fully integrated to their brand’s value proposition and revenue model and have seen tremendous success creating loyalty (and rewards programs) through their popular mobile wallet applications.
