Our friends at First American Payment Systems recently published an infographic on Mobile Trends for In-Store Shopping. It’s no secret that smartphones are changing every aspect of our lives, but we here at iMobile3 are particularly interested in how mobile impacts the way businesses and consumers engage in commerce.
The infographic highlights four major trends:
- 47% of mobile consumers over 14 years of age use their mobile device to research the pricing of competitors while they are in-stores shopping.
- 30% of users plan to use their smartphone to register and receive in-store discounts and promotions.
- 36% of users look up product reviews while they are buying in-store before buying.
- 16% of mobile consumers will use their smartphones to scan QR codes.
These numbers indicate a steady increase in consumer-based mobile usage at the point-of-sale. For companies that develop solutions for businesses, it’s important to understand how consumers use their phones for everyday purchases. Having a mobile app that contains rewards, offers and information on your products is extremely important in today’s retail environment. Even something as simple as offering free Wi-Fi in your store can make a difference.
