Happy Amazon Prime Day!
Normally, Amazon Prime Day wouldn’t be something we would blog about, but given the latest news regarding Amazon, Prime Day is becoming a world-wide phenomenon impacting small, local and online retailers.
Just last week, reports of Amazon’s Prime Membership were released. Membership in the U.S. has reached a staggering 85 million people, which is a 35% increase from a year ago and double what it was two years ago. Furthermore, the reports also revealed that Prime members spend on average $1,300 a year compared to non-Prime Amazon customers who only spend about $700 annually on average.
Prime Day is now a worldwide event. Expanded to 13 countries around the world, Amazon Prime members can find millions of deals, flash sales across a number of products ranging from consumer technology to clothing and even home goods. A majority of the dealers that take part in Amazon Prime Day are small businesses and entrepreneurs, which makes Prime Day yet another huge day for SMBs all around the globe.
